State 4-H Volunteer Conference Scheduled

The Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program will be sponsoring a state-wide leader training on July 27-29, 2012 in San Antonio to prepare the new generation of 4-H volunteers to lead and instruct our members.
Why Should You Attend the Conference?
  • Over 30 educational workshops focusing on 4-H projects and opportunities
  • Pre-conference session on Friday afternoon for newer volunteers, highlighting 4-H basics
  • Learn the latest and greatest of what’s going on in the Texas 4-H program
  • Enjoy an energizing and motivational keynote address
  • Network with volunteers from around the great state of Texas
  • Because every 4-H member deserves a trained volunteer!
Volunteer Scholarships:
The Texas 4-H Foundation will once again, sponsor scholarships for volunteers to attend the conference. The scholarships are in the amount of $65, which will cover half of the conference registration fee ($130). An online application is now available!

Applications will be accepted thru Friday, March 23rd.  Recipients will be notified prior to April 1st, when the conference registration opens on 4-H CONNECT.

Lodging:
Lodging reservations are the responsibility of each individual volunteer. There are numerous lodging facilities available throughout San Antonio; however, rooms have been blocked at several La Quinta locations.  To reserve a room in the group block, call one of the four La Quinta hotels listed on the Volunteer Conference website and reserve your room before July 6th.  Be sure to mention "Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation" to get the discounted rate.

Workshop Proposals:
The Volunteer Conference Committee invites volunteers, County Extension Agents and Specialists to submit a proposal to present a workshop. Share with other volunteers the success you have had with your 4-H club, project group or community service projects. Any topic will work!  The deadline to submit workshop proposals is February 15th. To submit go to the volunteer conference website.
