New 4-H T Shirts- Order Yours Today!

If you are interested in purchasing the new Bastrop County 4-H T-shirts, you may place your orders beginning September 1, 2012 through September 28, 2012. 

The site will close at midnight on September 28, 2012.
NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

2.  Enter sizes and quantities for each item, enter the student’s full name, and then click “Add to Cart”.
3.  Check your selections and make any necessary corrections. 
4.  Once your order is correct click “Proceed to checkout”.
5.  Enter your billing information. 
6.  Verify that your order is correct.  Check the box next to “Yes, I agree with the terms and conditions”, and then click “Continue”.
7.  Enter your payment information and click “Pay for Order”.  You will receive a confirmation email.
      ***NOTE*** Your order will be delivered as part of the Bastrop County 4-H shirt order which will be delivered to the County Extension office.  The cost is $10 for the short sleeve, and $15 for the long sleeve shirt.

Major Show Lamb & Goat Validation

If you plan to exhibit a market lamb or goat at the 2013 Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, San Angelo or Star of Texas Livestock Shows, you will need to attend lamb and goat validation on October 29 at the Bastrop Show Barn from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We will tattoo, eartag and take hair samples on each animal. A parent must be present with you, as we need original signatures on all validation forms. This is the only date for goat & lamb validation, therefore if you have a conflict, make arrangements with someone to haul your animal to validation.

Major Show Hog Validation Tag Orders Due

It is time to order validation tags for the 2013 Major Shows. If you are planning to show a market hog in Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Houston, Austin or San Angelo you must order validation tags. The cost is $10.00 per tag and the deadline for ordering and paying for tags is September 19, 2012. The date for the validation will be in November. Ordering tags does not enter you in the major shows. The major show entries will be accepted November 6-8 at the Extension office.

Major Show Broiler Orders Due

If you plan to exhibit market broilers at the 2013 Houston, San Antonio or Star of Texas Livestock shows, you need to place an order with the Extension office by October 12.  The standard order has been adjusted to increments of 25 broiler chicks up to a maximum of 75 chicks per exhibitor.  Families with multiple children who wish to enter the show cannot order one set of birds for multiple children.  Each child must have an individual order of 25, 50 or 75 birds.  Each exhibitor must select and exhibit their pen of three broilers from within the broilers assigned to them.  Sharing of birds between order sets is not allowed.  The price will be $31.25 per standard order of 25 ($1.25 per chick).  Birds will be delivered on January 11 for San Antonio show and on January 23, 2013, for Houston and Star of Texas shows.  (There will no longer be a roaster show at Star of Texas Fair.)

Veterinary Science Meeting


The first vet science meeting will be held Monday evening, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at Frontier Bank in Elgin. This will be an actual club meeting (instead of a project meeting), and we need to elect a secretary and a treasurer (for when the club has some money!) as well as a council delegate.  Please call Janice Dale if you have questions at 905-2237 or email jdale1015@aol.com.
